How to file a Mechanic’s Lien

Your mechanic's lien will be filed by Leonard J. Catanzaro, Esq., a construction litigator.

Private and city liens are filed properly and timely with the county clerk or city agency.

Just fill out the Lien Questionnaire Form for the type of job you want to lien.

You will immediately receive a confirmation via email.

  1. Once the form is submitted, we will prepare the original lien within approximately two business days. No one files liens faster than us. If you want same day lien filing, please call (212) 226-1234.

  2. You will receive the lien by email or fax. You must sign the first page over your name, and sign and notarize the second page over your name. Once you sign the lien, it is considered the original lien.

  3. Mail (or FedEx) the signed and notarized lien to the Law Offices of Leonard J. Catanzaro.

  4. Upon receipt, the lien will be filed with the county clerk or city agency by (approximately) the next business day.

  5. In addition, all relevant parties will be served with the mechanic's lien, including the contractor, the owner of the property, and the city agency via certified mail. The affidavit of service will also be filed with the county clerk or city agency.

  6. Shortly thereafter, you will receive a court stamped or city-stamped copy of the lien and affidavit of service indicating who was served.

  7. You will be notified immediately when the contractor and owner contact this office after the lien is filed.
